This Sunday at Unity Kids, SEL meets STEM in a lesson & activity about brains! Drop off your kids for some fun and social-emotional learning while you get a breather in the main service. Kids and adults are exploring the same theme this week: mind over matter 🧠 This week's lesson is SEL + STEM: real science about how their own brain works and grows. They'll learn that every time they try something hard, practice a skill, or even make a mistake, their brain is actually getting stronger. Story/Lesson - Your Fantastic Elastic Brain: We're reading Your Fantastic Elastic Brain by JoAnn Deak, illustrated by Sarah Ackerley, a book that walks kids through the different parts of their brain and what each one does. It makes the brain feel exciting, powerful, and totally theirs to grow. Activity - Fantastic Brain Cootie Catcher: Kids will color and fold their very own Fantastic Brain Cootie Catcher, then play with a friend! Each flap is packed with growth mindset prompts and affirmations that make learning about the brain feel like a game. Mindfulness Practice of the Week: This week we're learning Hummingbird Breathing — a calming practice where kids interlock their fingers under their chin and lift their elbows like wings while breathing slowly and deeply. It's gentle, fun, and easy to use at home anytime your child needs to slow down and reset. Come join us this Sunday and take an hour for yourself while your kid(s) are learning and well taken care of! Care available for 0-3 year olds and lessons for 4-8 year olds. All are welcome!
