Young Writers' Camp is a 10-day summer program for rising 3rd-11th graders that inspires creative thinking and promotes a love of writing. NOTE: Our 7th-8th grade class is currently at capacity. Please waitlist by emailing sdawp@ucsd.edu. Thank you for understanding. Campers will experiment with different genres of writing for a variety of audiences and purposes. They will explore writing styles and methods of self-expression with new friends. Classes will be grouped with grade level bands, such as 3-5, 6-8, 9-11. Participating Young Writers: Cost is $800. Eventbrite service fees included, $50 non-refundable processing fee included. The last day to request a partial refund for this camp is June 22, 2026. Note: If you are considering registering your child for this camp, please only do so if they can commit to attending all 10 days. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but if you know in advance that your child will not be able to attend all 10 days, we kindly ask that you leave room for those who can. This way, we can offer the most consistent and valuable experience for all participants. Thank you for your cooperation. FAQs What is a class/group? Camp will consist of up to 25 students per class grouped by grade level and facilitated by a team of SDAWP credentialed writing teachers and teaching assistants. What materials will I need?
