MAKE N TAKE PIONEER PASTIMES: QUILL WRITING & MARBLES AT THE HOMESTEADS

Tour the 1820’s Meeker Homestead and the 1850’s Millworker Cottage, play games with 1800’s clay marbles, & try writing with quill pens & ink This is a free event but donations are welcome and appreciated. Please note that tours and games start at 1 pm and craft begins at 2 pm: 1:00-2:00 pm Travel back in time to participate in several pioneer era activities. Start with a pioneer and Indigenous people’s game of clay marbles at the 1850s Millworker Cottage and a tour of the interactive displays in the 1820s Meeker Homestead. 2:00-4:00 pm Then, join us in Meeker’s Whetstone room to try your hand at calligraphy/fancy handwriting. Our forefathers used quill pens and ink to write the Declaration of Independence. Try your hand at writing or drawing with these unusual materials on aged-looking papers. Take a quill pen home. Parking is available at the Barn at Stratford across Stratford from the Millworker Cottage.
