About

Hang out, chat, and boost your social skills with others who get it at our Autism Social Skills Meet up! Mission Bay Teen Social Skills Group Location: Superbloom Café & Mission Bay Duration: 2 Hours Ages: Teens with ASD Our social skills group is designed to provide teens with opportunities to practice social communication, friendship skills, perspective-taking, and self-advocacy in a natural community setting. Rather than learning social skills in a clinic, participants will practice these skills while engaging in meaningful activities alongside peers. 10:00 AM – Arrival & Check-In at Superbloom Café Participants will meet the group, practice greetings, and engage in structured icebreaker conversations. Group leaders will facilitate introductions and help participants identify a social goal for the session. 10:15 AM – Walk & Talk Around Mission Bay The group will take a guided walk along the bay while participating in conversation activities. Teens will practice initiating conversations, asking follow-up questions, listening to others, staying on topic, and engaging in reciprocal communication. 10:45 AM – Picnic & Social Discussion The group will gather for a picnic-style discussion on the grass. Topics may include friendship skills, handling disagreements, flexible thinking, social media etiquette, managing anxiety in social situations, and navigating peer relationships. Facilitators will encourage perspective-taking and collaborative problem-solving. 11:30 AM – Group Activity Participants will engage in a cooperative activity designed to promote teamwork, communication, flexibility, and peer interaction. Activities may include social games, team challenges, discussion prompts, or collaborative planning activities. 11:50 AM – Reflection & Wrap-Up Participants will share a positive interaction from the group, reflect on their social goals, and identify one skill they would like to continue practicing during the week. Skills Targeted Throughout the Group - Conversation initiation and maintenance - Active listening - Reciprocal communication - Perspective-taking - Friendship development - Flexible thinking - Self-advocacy - Problem-solving - Community participation - Building confidence in social settings Our goal is to create a supportive, fun, and age-appropriate environment where teens can develop meaningful peer connections while practicing social skills in real-world situations.
