2026 Creative Careers for Youth Arts Intensive Series at ArtsXchange | $125 | Ages 11 - 18 | 6 Classes Remix & Rewear: Youth Fashion & Printmaking Lab is a five-day immersive workshop that introduces young participants to fashion design through printmaking, surface design, and creative upcycling. The program is designed to build confidence, encourage self-expression, and introduce sustainable approaches to clothing through hands-on experimentation with textiles. Throughout the week, participants will explore how garments can be transformed using accessible techniques such as fabric printing, painting, hand sewing, embellishment, and basic reconstruction. The class emphasizes creativity over perfection, allowing students of all experience levels to participate successfully. By working with reclaimed clothing and donated materials, students will also gain awareness of sustainability and resourcefulness in design. The workshop culminates in a youth-led fashion presentation where participants showcase their finished pieces for family and community members in a supportive and celebratory environment. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Marketing, with focused study in textiles, material construction, and garment systems. Her practice explores what she calls the “language of fabric”—the idea that cloth carries memory, identity, and emotional narrative through touch, wear, and repair. Working primarily with reclaimed garments and donated materials, Agapé creates story quilts, textile assemblages, and expressive fabric forms that draw from African American quilting traditions, improvisational design, and communal making practices. Her work centers transformation: worn clothing becomes visual storytelling, and discarded materials become sites of meaning, preservation, and care. As a teaching artist, Agapé facilitates intuitive art classes that prioritize access, personal voice, and process over technical perfection. Participants are guided to respond to color, texture, and memory, using sewing, layering, and arrangement as tools for reflection and self-expression rather than strict craft training. Her workshops are designed to be welcoming to beginners while still engaging experienced makers. Her Remix & Rewear classes invite participants to reimagine existing garments through repair, reconstruction, and embellishment, encouraging sustainable practices while strengthening creative confidence. By combining design knowledge with intuitive making, Agapé helps individuals develop both practical skills and personal narrative through textile art. Through her work as both artist and educator, she creates spaces where making becomes a form of storytelling, empowerment, and connection.
