TheatreWorks is proud to bring this Olivier Award-winning musical from our friends Irene Sankoff and David Hein, helmed by TheatreWorks Artistic Director Emeritus Robert Kelley. May 2. The program features world premiere works by contemporary composer Leonid Iogansen, inspired by the sound and musical cultures of the East. The program features Leonid’s latest compositions for violin and piano, evoking the sounds of the Himalayas region. Both Western and Eastern instruments join for a full ensemble work, the music in which explores the bridge between the two musical universes. In addition, a curated selection of existing compositions for Chinese instruments complements the theme of the concert: merging the sounds of East and West. May 8-10. Produced nationally and internationally, Little Women has been praised by critics for its ambition in adapting such a well-known story for the stage. This timeless, captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love. May 14-17. We delve into the past to explore our future. Two world premieres and two audience favorites, including Michael Smuin’s beloved “Hearts Suite,” set to the music of Edith Piaf. May 22-23. In celebration of Western Ballet’s 50th Anniversary, Don Quixote premieres as a full‑length, comedic ballet in three acts, bursting with vibrant Spanish flair, exhilarating virtuosity, and joyful storytelling. This milestone production features all‑new sets designed by Peter Crompton and created by Rooster Productions, along with new costumes by Yanis E. Pikieris, bringing fresh visual richness to this beloved classic.
