About
Get creative and craft your own unique Silhouette Portraits. Little Liberties is a hands-on art and history series for families at the Wayland Museum & Historical Society, inspired by real objects from the Echoes of Liberty exhibition. Each session begins with a close look at a real artifact from the collection, followed by a hands-on making activity. Every child takes something home. This session: inspired by the portrait of Sarah E. Hawkes Heard. Before photography, a silhouette was how ordinary people made a lasting image of someone they loved. We trace your child's shadow onto black paper — they cut it out and take home an instant heirloom. Caregivers must attend — this is not a drop-off program. Ages 4–10 · $20/child · Members $15 · Under 3 free · Caregivers free Space limited to 12 families · Pre-registration and prepayment required We are in an historic building.
