Richard Goodwin, the owner, is a highly accomplished and respected individual in the grappling industry. With a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and a background as a successful wrestler, Richard's expertise is well-known. He has achieved numerous accolades throughout his career, including being a state placer in high school wrestling and a three-time All American for San Francisco State University. With an impressive record of 132 career wins, Richard has also claimed the title of IBJJF 2023 Blackbelt Master World Champion and has previously been crowned a five-time Master World Champion in Gi and Nogi. Richard's journey began in high school, where he discovered his passion for wrestling and the unique camaraderie it offers. He continued to pursue his dreams in college and even served in the Army, earning him great respect in the wrestling arena. Introduced to Jiu Jitsu two decades ago by Jay Janeiro, a black belt and the owner of Evolve Training Center, Richard quickly embraced the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle. He describes Jiu Jitsu as a natural fit for him, believing that it has given his life a deeper meaning. Furthermore, Jiu Jitsu played a significant role in his journey to sobriety, helping him overcome drug and alcohol addiction and live a clean and sober life for over 15 years. Richard firmly believes that Jiu Jitsu has the power to transform lives for the better, combining intelligence with movement to nourish the mind and body with positivity.
