Project 48 reaches 1,000+ youth (ages 7-23) in the Portland Metro area every year. Our mission is to support youth in foster care by providing essential items, life skills, and meaningful connections during times of transition. Your generosity provides stability, confidence, and opportunity for youth facing challenging transitions. Delivery with 48 hours of a brand‑new backpack or duffle filled with three days’ worth of clothing, shoes, undergarments, and hygiene and menstrual supplies. The Life Skills Program is an 8 week course created to act as a bridge for young adults between the ages of 17 - 23 as they transition out of foster care into independence. Since 2019, P48 has partnered with Child Welfare to make holiday dreams come true for over 3,056 teens in foster care, age 13-21. Thanks to the generosity and kindness of our community, Project 48 provides over 500 customized Holiday Bags each year, reminding these teens that they are loved, valued, and cherished by their community. The Black Hair and Cultural Care Program (BHCCP) exists to affirm and support every child of African descent in Oregon’s foster care system, past and present, by preserving cultural connection through Black hair care. At P48, impact isn’t abstract—it’s personal. We meet young people in foster care where they are, and we show up with the tools, skills, and support they need to move forward with confidence. From providing essential bags to youth entering care, to graduating teens through life-skills programs, to ensuring families feel supported during the holidays, our work is about stability, dignity, and momentum.
