Provide opportunities for physical, cultural, and social well-being; ensure effective development, scheduling, use and maintenance of public facilities, parks, and open space; and deliver services in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The administration of the Parks and Recreation Department, which includes the operation and programming of recreation facilities, park planning and maintenance, and facility maintenance, is the responsibility of the Parks and Recreation Director. The Parks and Recreation Commission and the Cultural Arts Commission, which are appointed by City Council, provide policy direction. Several volunteer and advisory citizen groups also provide support and recommendations to the Director and staff. Greg Mediati joined the City of South San Francisco in 2010, working his way up to Director of the Parks and Recreation Department after working in various roles in each of the Department’s four divisions. Greg previously served as a Conference Center Facility Manager at UC Davis. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from UC Davis in Environmental Policy and Urban Planning, and a Master of Landscape Architecture degree.
