Kourtney's Kause is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent drowning through a multi-faceted approach: Swim lesson accessibility, water safety education, and supporting qualified candidates to become instructors. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children aged 1-4 and the second leading cause of death in children aged 5-15. Drowning prevention in both our community and throughout the state of California can only happen if people are equipped with proper water safety education. We provide education in various ways to our community and at a statewide level. Kourtney Faith Andrews was a precious, vibrant, three-year-old who passed away from a drowning accident at a backyard pool party in 2017. After her passing, her family discovered vital water safety information that could have prevented her death if they had known sooner. In Kourtney’s honor, we work daily to educate families and the public about water safety and to make survival swim lessons accessible to every child. Our nonprofit was founded with the purpose of preventing childhood drowning so that no other family would have to experience the devastation of losing a child to drowning. Read Kourtney’s story.
